EMDR Therapist in London
Support That Fits Around Your Life
London’s a big place, and getting across it for appointments eats into a week most people don’t have spare. I work with clients here through home visits or fully online, using the same structured approach to anxiety, PTSD, and depression, built around what’s actually driving it, not what’s easiest to talk about.

Serving Clients Across London
A lot of the people I see in London are running at a pace that doesn’t leave much room to sit with anything properly. Something happened, or something’s built up, and it’s still there under the surface, showing up as anxiety, low mood, or a reaction that doesn’t quite match the moment. EMDR gives that a proper outlet instead of it just sitting there.
I work with clients across London through home visits and online sessions, so getting to an appointment isn’t another thing to fit in.
How EMDR Actually Works
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
uses structured bilateral stimulation, usually eye movements, to help the brain reprocess experiences that are still driving a reaction. It’s NICE-recommended for PTSD, and I also use it for anxiety and depression where the cause is something specific rather than a general thinking pattern.
It’s a method, not an open-ended chat. We identify what’s actually happening underneath the symptom, then work through it in a structured way. That’s what makes it different from standard talking therapy for this kind of issue.
Who Benefits From EMDR Therapy
Most of my EMDR clients in London aren’t in crisis; they’re coping, often well, while managing demanding professional lives. What brings them in is usually something specific: a traumatic event, a period that was harder than they let on at the time, or anxiety and low mood that don’t add up given how things look from the outside.
EMDR for anxiety, EMDR for PTSD, and EMDR for depression all fall under what I do, depending on what’s underneath. You don’t need one defining incident; accumulated pressure works the same way.
EMDR Sessions at Home or Online
Sessions run however suits you best, face-to-face in London, at home, or online.
Online Therapy Sessions
EMDR works just as well delivered online for most clients, and it removes travel from the equation altogether.
Home Visit Therapy
If a session at home works better for you, I can come to you depending on where in London you’re based; this gets confirmed on the discovery call.
The Long Way Round Into This Work
I didn’t take the usual route into private therapy. I trained as a mental health nurse and worked in secure settings, including Broadmoor, then primary care, before training as a CBT therapist and later in EMDR. That’s a wider range of severity than most private therapists have worked across, and it shapes how I approach this.
I still work part-time at the University of Cambridge alongside private practice. BABCP accreditation means my CBT training and practice are independently checked, and EMDR sits on top of that. The aim isn’t to keep you in sessions indefinitely; it’s for you to leave with something you can use on your own.
Home Visit and Online EMDR Coverage Across London
I see clients across London for online sessions with no location limit, and I offer home visits depending on where you’re based.
This gets confirmed when we speak.
I am based in Essex, working across Brentwood and Chelmsford.

Your First Step Toward EMDR Therapy in London
A Free Discovery Call First
No commitment, no clinical questionnaire to fill in beforehand. Just a conversation about what’s going on and whether EMDR makes sense for you.
Sessions Built Around What You Need
From there, we work through it properly, at home or online, using EMDR’s structured process rather than an open-ended chat.
Tools That Stay With You
The goal isn’t ongoing sessions indefinitely. You leave with the reprocessing done and a clearer handle on what was driving things.
What People Say
Can’t recommend highly enough!!!
Ryan was an exceptional trauma-informed CBT therapist and I can’t recommend him highly enough. From the very first session, he immediately made me feel relaxed, safe, and comfortable enough to open up about what was going on. He explained things in a way that was easy to understand and always made the techniques feel relevant and personal to my situation.
My time working with Ryan was very helpful and productive. I’ve had several counsellors over the years, and elements of Ryan’s approach were quite different and very suited to me. His manner is relaxed and empathetic. Whilst the time was taken to aid my understanding of myself, he also provided real tools and tactics that enabled me to put the changes I wanted to make into practice. This has often been the gap in the past that prevented me from making meaningful change. I’m doing well now, but wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Ryan, for a top up, or to work through another issue on the future. Thank you, Ryan.
Life Changing.
Ryan has been incredible throughout. His pragmatic approach and tools have helped me overcome a number of challenges which have built up over time.
His clear communication style and clarity ensured I was able to understand everything in the first instance and the awareness I developed with his help has significantly improved my view on many things and helped me be more accepting in certain situations which would have previously snow balled and got out of control.
Without question or doubt, I’d highly recommend Ryan. Thank you Ryan.
I couldn’t recommend Ryan more.
Ryan is a highly trained therapist, who you feel at ease with after just your first meeting. He speaks to you like you’re a real person and creates an environment that you feel that you can open up in. Ryan has real life applicable techniques which are easy to integrate into your day to day life. He genuinely has changed my life and way of thinking.
I have tried NHS and a few other therapy services. Slan Therapy was the one that stuck. Ryan is patient and lets you go at your own pace whilst also making sure you are progressing. He made me feel so at ease and I looked forward to the sessions instead of dreading them (like all the ones before). My life is now brighter since working with him. 100% recommend, his Irish self won’t let you down!
Ryan is a phenomenal practitioner of pyschotherapy and CBT. I started working with him on a personal recommendation and within a few sessions he had helped me not only understand (for the first time) what was going on for me, but also started equipping me with practical work that made a real difference.

Common Questions About EMDR in London
Don’t see the answer you need? Get in touch.
How much does EMDR therapy cost in London?
An EMDR therapy session is £99 for 50 minutes, but pricing depends on the format and type of session: at home or online. The full pricing breakdown covers all of that.
Are home visits available everywhere in London?
It depends on where you’re based; this gets confirmed on the discovery call rather than promised upfront. Online sessions are available regardless of location.
How is EMDR different from regular talking therapy?
EMDR follows a structured process aimed at reprocessing a specific experience, rather than an open-ended conversation about how you’re feeling. That structure is what sets it apart.
Do I need a diagnosis before booking a session?
No. Plenty of clients come without a formal diagnosis, just a sense that something specific keeps affecting them. We work out what’s going on together.
Ready to Get Started?
If that’s what you’re after, book a session. If you want to ask questions first, that’s fine too.
