CBT Therapist in Brentwood

Practical Tools for What's Actually Going On

I work quite practically. We work out what’s actually driving the anxiety, stress or low mood, then build a framework to change it. I see clients in Brentwood and across Essex for CBT, in person or online.

CBT Therapy for Clients in Brentwood

A lot of what brings people to CBT isn’t one big thing; it’s a pattern. Overthinking, procrastination driven by anxiety, burnout that keeps creeping back no matter how many holidays you take. CBT gives you a way to actually break that pattern, rather than just managing around it.

I see clients across Brentwood and the wider Essex area for CBT, in person or online.

How CBT Therapy Works

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is recommended by NICE for both anxiety and depression, and it’s the approach I use for stress, burnout, self-esteem and sleep problems too, wherever the pattern is more about how you’re thinking and responding than something that needs reprocessing outright.

I work fairly concretely. We identify what’s actually driving the pattern, break it into workable parts, and change those parts directly. It’s structured, evidence-based, and builds toward a clear endpoint rather than an open-ended process.

Who Benefits From CBT Therapy

CBT doesn’t require you to be at breaking point. A good chunk of my Brentwood clients are functioning well on paper, busy professional roles, families, mortgages, the lot, and still dealing with anxiety, stress or burnout that doesn’t add up against how things look. For others it’s more specific: sleep that’s stopped working properly, or self-esteem that quietly undermines everything else.

Whatever’s underneath, the pattern is usually what we’re actually working on, not the label someone walks in with.

A Different Kind of Training Ground

BABCP accreditation means my CBT training and ongoing practice are independently checked, not just something I say about myself. I also still work part-time at the University of Cambridge, alongside private practice.

What’s less typical is the route that got me here. Before CBT training, I was a mental health nurse in secure settings, Broadmoor included, then primary care. Most private therapists haven’t worked across that range of severity, and it’s shaped how I think about what actually helps versus what just feels reassuring in the moment.

Areas Around Brentwood I Cover

I see clients throughout Brentwood and the surrounding Essex area, including Shenfield, Hutton, Ingatestone and Chelmsford, as well as further across Essex and London. Online sessions mean location isn’t a hard limit either way.

Can’t recommend highly enough!!! Ryan was an exceptional trauma-informed CBT therapist and I can’t recommend him highly enough. From the very first session, he immediately made me feel relaxed, safe, and comfortable enough to open up about what was going on. He explained things in a way that was easy to understand and always made the techniques feel relevant and personal to my situation. Ryan encouraged me to really commit to the CBT work and challenged me in a supportive and constructive way. Because of that, I saw amazing results. The impact his therapy has had on my life has genuinely been life changing, and I’m incredibly grateful for his support and guidance.

I couldn’t recommend Ryan more. Ryan is a highly trained therapist, who you feel at ease with after just your first meeting. He speaks to you like you’re a real person and creates an environment that you feel that you can open up in. Ryan has real life applicable techniques which are easy to integrate into your day to day life. He genuinely has changed my life and way of thinking.

My time working with Ryan was very helpful and productive. I’ve had several counsellors over the years, and elements of Ryan’s approach were quite different and very suited to me. His manner is relaxed and empathetic. Whilst the time was taken to aid my understanding of myself, he also provided real tools and tactics that enabled me to put the changes I wanted to make into practice. This has often been the gap in the past that prevented me from making meaningful change. I’m doing well now, but wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Ryan, for a top up, or to work through another issue on the future. Thank you, Ryan.

I have tried NHS and a few other therapy services. Slan Therapy was the one that stuck. Ryan is patient and lets you go at your own pace whilst also making sure you are progressing. He made me feel so at ease and I looked forward to the sessions instead of dreading them (like all the ones before). My life is now brighter since working with him. 100% recommend, his Irish self won’t let you down!

How much does CBT therapy cost in Brentwood?

A CBT therapy session is £99 for 50 minutes, but pricing depends on the format and type of session: at home or online. The full pricing breakdown covers all of that.

Yes. CBT works well for stress and burnout specifically, not only diagnosed anxiety or depression. It’s about the pattern driving the reaction, whatever the label.

Yes, both are common reasons people start CBT. Sleep problems and self-esteem issues usually have identifiable patterns behind them that CBT can work through directly.

It depends on what we’re working with. I’ll give you a realistic sense of that after the initial assessment rather than a generic number upfront.
